Dwitiya Tithi Ends – 09:41 on Oct 1st, 2023

A ritual called Dwitiya Shraddha is meticulously followed, dedicated to the memory of family members who passed away on Dwitiya Tithi, encompassing both phases of the moon – the waxing (Shukla) and the waning (Krishna Paksha) Dwitiya.

It wears a second mantle, known as Dooj Shraddha, a name equally significant in cultural circles.

The Shraddhas observed during Pitru Paksha assume a grand status, termed Parvan Shraddhas (पार्वण श्राद्ध). Propitious moments for performing them are woven into the time periods known as Kutup Muhurat and the subsequent Rohina etc. Muhurat, stretching until the time Aparahna Kala folds its wings. Tarpan (तर्पण), the closing act of the Shraddha, marks the ritual’s serene finale.
